Representing the ASEAN Centre for Sustainable Development Studies and Dialogue (ACSDSD), our Executive Director, H.E. Mrs. Phasporn Sangasubana, joined our green partners from GIZ, the Yunus Thailand Foundation, and the Pollution Control Department (PCD) to bridge the gap between policy and impactful investment.

We are pleased to share highlights from a productive morning at the SEA-MaP Conference: Innovation and Investment for Plastic Circularity in Thailand.

A central theme of the session was the unveiling of the SEA-MaP Regional Platform for Innovation and Investment (SEA-MaP IIP). This initiative is set to become a cornerstone for regional sustainability through: the Financing Marketplace and the Accelerator Programme. The former feature is a strategic nexus designed to connect high-potential start-ups with corporate partners and investors while the other is a dedicated pathway for matched partners to develop pilot projects and secure the necessary capital for large-scale implementation.
We were encouraged by the updates provided by Ms. Wassana Jangprajak (PCD) regarding Thailandโ€™s Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) legislation. The roadmap underscores a comprehensive transition toward a circular economy, ensuring that tools are in place to support stakeholders from upstream production to downstream waste management.

Dr. Wijarn Simachaya, President of the Thailand Environment Institute (TEI), eloquently wrapped up the conference noting that we must “Think Globally, Act Locally”. The circular economy is no longer a distant goalโ€”it is our current reality. The true measure of success lies in our ability to find game changers that can translate policy into tangible action. To lead the future, we must transcend old behaviors and embrace innovation at both the local and national levels. ACESP remains committed to supporting these dialogues and fostering the partnerships necessary to turn these visions into a sustainable reality.

ACAI to join ACSDSDโ€™s ASEAN Networking Symposium 2026

On 10 March 2026, ACSDSD Deputy Executive Director Dr. Anthony Pramualratana and ACSDSD Communications Officer Ms. Pakjira Numchaisombut met with Dr. Somsak Akksilp, Executive Director of the ASEAN Centre for Active Ageing and Innovation (ACAI), to pave the way for collaboration ahead of the ASEAN Networking Symposium 2026. Dr. Anthony highlighted two key outcome of the symposium: the need for synergy across ASEANโ€™s development pillars and the promotion of best practices in ASEAN Centres collaboration. He also invited ACAI to participate in the symposium to discover synergies among ASEAN Centres. Both institutions agreed to integrate a people-to-people approach into ASEANโ€™s sustainable development agenda, and ACAI confirmed its participation, marking a step toward inclusive, people-centered sustainability across the region.
