ACSDSD Executive Director Pays Courtesy Visit to Devawongse Varopakarn Institute of Foreign Affairs (DVIFA)

On 22 July 2025, H.E. Ms. Phasporn Sangasubana, Executive Director of the ASEAN Centre for Sustainable Development Studies and Dialogue (ACSDSD), paid a courtesy call on, Ms. Thitiporn Chirasawadi, the Director of Devawongse Varopakarn Institute of Foreign Affairs (DVIFA), Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Thailand. During the meeting, H.E. Ms. Sangasubana praised the resources of human resources development and negotiation skills by the DVIFA institute and gave an update on ACSDSD’s continuing initiatives, including the 3rd ASEAN Circular Economy Forum to take place on 16-17 October 2025 at Kuala Lumpur Convention Center, Malaysia.

The ASEAN Centre for Sustainable Development Studies and Dialogue (ACSDSD), established in 2019 in partnership with Mahidol University, was formalized as a center in 2025. The center discusses potential to support capacity-building for the ASEAN region, including workshops and training courses on sustainable development. 

The director of DVIFA expressed interest in promoting diplomatic preparedness and sustainable development awareness among future Thai professionals by integrating relevant content into the secondary school curriculum, in collaboration with Thai educators and the ASEAN Department’s academic network. The DVIFA Institute would explore potential areas of cooperation with ACSDSD and welcomed further engagement of ACSDSD as guest speakers and joint events.

ACAI to join ACSDSD’s ASEAN Networking Symposium 2026

On 10 March 2026, ACSDSD Deputy Executive Director Dr. Anthony Pramualratana and ACSDSD Communications Officer Ms. Pakjira Numchaisombut met with Dr. Somsak Akksilp, Executive Director of the ASEAN Centre for Active Ageing and Innovation (ACAI), to pave the way for collaboration ahead of the ASEAN Networking Symposium 2026. Dr. Anthony highlighted two key outcome of the symposium: the need for synergy across ASEAN’s development pillars and the promotion of best practices in ASEAN Centres collaboration. He also invited ACAI to participate in the symposium to discover synergies among ASEAN Centres. Both institutions agreed to integrate a people-to-people approach into ASEAN’s sustainable development agenda, and ACAI confirmed its participation, marking a step toward inclusive, people-centered sustainability across the region.
