“Advancing Circular Economy in Energy: Maximising Sustainability and Resource Efficiency” during the Sustainability & Renewable Energy Forum 4.0 (SAREF 4.0).

The forum took place on 3–4 September 2025 at the Borneo Convention Centre Kuching, Sarawak, Malaysia, under the theme
“Partnerships for Our Goals: Sustainable Growth and Prosperity for the Region.”

SAREF 4.0 convened government leaders, business executives, and utility stakeholders to explore cross-border power connectivity, Southeast Asia’s clean energy transition, and strategies for energy security, resilience, and inclusive growth.

“This forum provides a unique platform to share knowledge, foster partnerships, and chart practical pathways towards a just energy transition through renewable resources and regional cooperation.”

— Dr. Anthony Pramualratana

The two-day programme featured high-level dialogues on cross-border interconnections, inclusive growth, and sustainable development, alongside exhibitions of renewable energy technologies and innovations.

A vibrant Youth Pavilion hosted cultural workshops, interactive sessions, and a fireside chat with Malaysia’s two-time Olympic medallist, Datuk Pandelela Rinong. The event also celebrated youth innovation through the 5th ASEAN Energy Youth Awards and showcased local creativity at the Community Market.

ACSDSD’s participation in SAREF 4.0 reinforced its role as a regional knowledge hub, fostering new partnerships and insights that support its mission of sustainable development and inclusive policy dialogue across ASEAN. The forum’s exchange of best practices and regional cooperation opportunities will further strengthen ACSDSD’s contribution to the ASEAN sustainability agenda.
