ACSDSD in 2nd 3RproMar Regional Workshop Series “Preventing Marine Plastic Pollution for a Stronger Circular Economy in ASEAN.”

On 22 May 2023, Khun Treesuvit (David) Arriyavat, the project manager of the ASEAN Circular Economy Stakeholder Platform (ACESP) from the ASEAN Centre Sustainable Development Studies and Dialogue (ACSDSD), Mahidol University, participated in the 2nd Regional Workshop Series: Reduce, Reuse, Recycle to Protect Marine Environment And Coral Reefs (3RproMar) under the theme “Preventing Marine Plastic Pollution for a Stronger Circular Economy in ASEAN.”

This 2nd regional workshop was attended by the National Focal Points (NFPs) of the ASEAN Working Group on Coastal and Marine Environment (AWGCME), ASEAN Working Group on Environmentally Sustainable Cities (AWGESC), ASEAN Working Group on Chemicals and Waste (AWGCW) and other relevant ASEAN Working Groups, among other government representatives from the ASEAN region. The Workshop will also involve industry, the financial sector, academic experts, civil society representatives, and ASEAN Dialogue/Development Partners.

On this occasion, as a reflection panel speaker, David reflected on the interconnectivity of marine litter and circular economy; how to encourage synergies between the 3RproMar Knowledge Partnership for Marine Litter Prevention in ASEAN and the recently established ASEAN Circular Economy Stakeholder Platform.

ACAI to join ACSDSD’s ASEAN Networking Symposium 2026

On 10 March 2026, ACSDSD Deputy Executive Director Dr. Anthony Pramualratana and ACSDSD Communications Officer Ms. Pakjira Numchaisombut met with Dr. Somsak Akksilp, Executive Director of the ASEAN Centre for Active Ageing and Innovation (ACAI), to pave the way for collaboration ahead of the ASEAN Networking Symposium 2026. Dr. Anthony highlighted two key outcome of the symposium: the need for synergy across ASEAN’s development pillars and the promotion of best practices in ASEAN Centres collaboration. He also invited ACAI to participate in the symposium to discover synergies among ASEAN Centres. Both institutions agreed to integrate a people-to-people approach into ASEAN’s sustainable development agenda, and ACAI confirmed its participation, marking a step toward inclusive, people-centered sustainability across the region.
