ACSDSD & Sarawak Energy to advance circular economy initiatives

The ASEAN Centre for Sustainable Development Studies and Dialogue (ACSDSD), on 27 March 2025, welcomed a delegation from Sarawak Energy, led by Mr. Marconi Madai, Senior Vice President for Health, Safety, Security and Environment (HSSE), to discuss potential collaboration on circular economy initiatives.

The meeting took place in the context of Sarawak Energy’s upcoming Sustainability and Renewable Energy Forum (SAREF 4.0), scheduled for 3–4 September 2025 in Kuching, Malaysia.

ACSDSD Executive Director, H.E. Phasporn Sangasubana, Deputy Executive Director, Dr. Anthony Pramualratana, and team shared insights on the Centre’s work in promoting sustainable development cooperation in ASEAN and explored synergies in capacity building, and regional exchange on circular economy models. During the visit, the ACSDSD centre discussed with Sarawak Energy on ways to broaden stakeholder engagement with regional partners on sustainability, renewable energy, and biodiversity conservation.

ACAI to join ACSDSD’s ASEAN Networking Symposium 2026

On 10 March 2026, ACSDSD Deputy Executive Director Dr. Anthony Pramualratana and ACSDSD Communications Officer Ms. Pakjira Numchaisombut met with Dr. Somsak Akksilp, Executive Director of the ASEAN Centre for Active Ageing and Innovation (ACAI), to pave the way for collaboration ahead of the ASEAN Networking Symposium 2026. Dr. Anthony highlighted two key outcome of the symposium: the need for synergy across ASEAN’s development pillars and the promotion of best practices in ASEAN Centres collaboration. He also invited ACAI to participate in the symposium to discover synergies among ASEAN Centres. Both institutions agreed to integrate a people-to-people approach into ASEAN’s sustainable development agenda, and ACAI confirmed its participation, marking a step toward inclusive, people-centered sustainability across the region.
