H.E. Mr. Lorenzo Galanti, Ambassador of Italy visited ACSDSD

BANGKOK – H.E. the Ambassador of Italy, Mr. Lorenzo Galanti, visited ACSDSD on 19 February 2020 to discuss possibility and areas of cooperation between Italy and ASEAN through ACSDSD.

The Ambassador is keen to learn about a number of existing research and projects on sustainable development at the College of Management and within Mahidol University. The discussion also covered different aspects and dimensions of sustainable development such as education, climate action and resilience, sustainable tourism, cultural heritage protection, connectivity, women empowerment, peace and security.

Italy has recently expressed intention to be an ASEAN development partner. It is a Permanent Observer of the Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP). It will also be the Co-chair of the 26th session of the Conference of the Parties (COP 26) to the UNFCCC, which is expected to take place from 9-19 November 2020, in Glasgow, UK.

ACAI to join ACSDSD’s ASEAN Networking Symposium 2026

On 10 March 2026, ACSDSD Deputy Executive Director Dr. Anthony Pramualratana and ACSDSD Communications Officer Ms. Pakjira Numchaisombut met with Dr. Somsak Akksilp, Executive Director of the ASEAN Centre for Active Ageing and Innovation (ACAI), to pave the way for collaboration ahead of the ASEAN Networking Symposium 2026. Dr. Anthony highlighted two key outcome of the symposium: the need for synergy across ASEAN’s development pillars and the promotion of best practices in ASEAN Centres collaboration. He also invited ACAI to participate in the symposium to discover synergies among ASEAN Centres. Both institutions agreed to integrate a people-to-people approach into ASEAN’s sustainable development agenda, and ACAI confirmed its participation, marking a step toward inclusive, people-centered sustainability across the region.
