SDGs amidst geopolitics: Mapping the role of ACSDSD in advancing sustainable development

On 5 March 2026, Ms. Phasporn Sangasubana, Executive Director of the ASEAN Centre for Sustainable Development Studies and Dialogue (ACSDSD) and team paid a courtesy call on H.E. Mr. Sihasak Phuangketkeow, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Thailand.

Thailand, as the ASEAN Coordinator on Sustainable Development Cooperation, underscored the role of the ACSDSD in linking regional policy frameworks with national endeavours on sustainable development by mobilizing multi-stakeholder engagement and functioning as a knowledge hub through our “SDG around the globe” platform. Highlighted issues are circular economy, innovation, local wisdoms, SDGs and youth empowerment to strengthen sustainable development cooperation in ASEAN.

ACSDSD reaffirmed its commitment in bridging relevant multistakeholders as sustainable development is a cross-sectoral issue. This will complement the development towards a more resilient and sustainable ASEAN community.

ACAI to join ACSDSD’s ASEAN Networking Symposium 2026

On 10 March 2026, ACSDSD Deputy Executive Director Dr. Anthony Pramualratana and ACSDSD Communications Officer Ms. Pakjira Numchaisombut met with Dr. Somsak Akksilp, Executive Director of the ASEAN Centre for Active Ageing and Innovation (ACAI), to pave the way for collaboration ahead of the ASEAN Networking Symposium 2026. Dr. Anthony highlighted two key outcome of the symposium: the need for synergy across ASEAN’s development pillars and the promotion of best practices in ASEAN Centres collaboration. He also invited ACAI to participate in the symposium to discover synergies among ASEAN Centres. Both institutions agreed to integrate a people-to-people approach into ASEAN’s sustainable development agenda, and ACAI confirmed its participation, marking a step toward inclusive, people-centered sustainability across the region.
