ASEAN Acceleration: Multi-Stakeholder Forum on Sustainability Towards the UN 2030 Agenda

On 21-22 August 2025, H.E. Phasporn Sangasubana spoke on ASEAN SDG Progress at the ASEAN Multi-Stakeholder Forum on Sustainability, calling for “transformative, equitable, innovative, and coordinated actions for the 2030 Agenda.” This is an opportunity for ASEAN, Türkiye and development partners to strengthen SDG financing and foster cross-pillar collaborations.
The Forum, held on 21–22 August 2025, brought together ASEAN Member States, partners, and development agencies to convene on sustainable development, integrating three key platforms: the 9th High-Level Brainstorming Dialogue on Complementarities (HLBD), the ASEAN Forum on SDGs with National Development Planning Agencies (NDPAs), and ESCAP’s South-East Asia Multistakeholder Forum.
Collectively, the forum advances regional policy coherence, aligning ASEAN Vision 2025 and 2045 with the UN 2030 Agenda to promote green finance, resilience against climate change, energy transition, effective digital transformation and partnership.
This year’s Forum will assess progress on the following SDGs under review at the 13th APFSD and 2026 HLPF:
- Goal 6: Clean Water and Sanitation
- Goal 7: Affordable and Clean Energy
- Goal 9: Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure
- Goal 11: Sustainable Cities and Communities
- Goal 17: Partnerships for the Goals

On 22 August, ACSDSD—led by H.E. Phasporn Sangasubana and Dr. Anthony Pramualratana—moderated the Regional Consultation for Complementarities Initiative 2.0. (CI 2.0)
🌱With a shared goal of building a “green ASEAN,” the session sparked dynamic exchanges to shape the CI 2.0 report.
The Dialogue will serve as a key platform for both lead discussants and ASEAN Member States to exchange views, brainstorm ideas, and collectively explore how the region can advance sustainable development under the framework of CI 2.0. The insights and recommendations gathered from this session will contribute to the finalisation of the CI 2.0 report, which is expected to be completed by September 2025.
