ACSDSD officially launched

November 3, 2019 – Assistant Professor Dr. Duangporn Arbhasil, Dean of the College of Management, Mahidol University, Associate Professor Dr. Sooksan Kantabutra, Assistant Professor Dr. Randall Shannon and Ms. Orawan Yafa, representing the ASEAN Centre for Sustainable Development Studies and Dialogue, attend the 35th ASEAN Summit and related meetings at Grand Diamond Room, Impact Forum Building, Muangthong Thani, Bangkok.

The ASEAN Centre for Sustainable Development Studies and Dialogue is officially launched at the Opening Ceremony of the 35th ASEAN Summit and Related Summits today. The Centre is located at the College of Management of Mahidol University. Run in conjunction with the Center for Research on Sustainable Leadership, the ACSDSD will play an important role in promoting sustainable development cooperation in the region through conducting studies and research, building capacity of ASEAN Member States, and promoting dialogue and concrete cooperation within ASEAN and with ASEAN’s external partners. It will also be one of the concrete deliverables of Thailand’s ASEAN Chairmanship this year and is a part of Thailand’s investment for the sustainable future of ASEAN.

ACAI to join ACSDSD’s ASEAN Networking Symposium 2026

On 10 March 2026, ACSDSD Deputy Executive Director Dr. Anthony Pramualratana and ACSDSD Communications Officer Ms. Pakjira Numchaisombut met with Dr. Somsak Akksilp, Executive Director of the ASEAN Centre for Active Ageing and Innovation (ACAI), to pave the way for collaboration ahead of the ASEAN Networking Symposium 2026. Dr. Anthony highlighted two key outcome of the symposium: the need for synergy across ASEAN’s development pillars and the promotion of best practices in ASEAN Centres collaboration. He also invited ACAI to participate in the symposium to discover synergies among ASEAN Centres. Both institutions agreed to integrate a people-to-people approach into ASEAN’s sustainable development agenda, and ACAI confirmed its participation, marking a step toward inclusive, people-centered sustainability across the region.
