Youth and Conservation Leadership: ASEAN Biodiversity in Action

Across ASEAN, young people are emerging as key actors in protecting biodiversity and promoting sustainable development. From coastal restoration projects to community-based conservation campaigns, youth networks are helping translate global goals into local action. Their initiatives support SDG 14 (Life Below Water) and SDG 15 (Life on Land) by raising awareness on ecosystem protection, sustainable resource use, and climate resilience.

ASEAN is home to some of the world’s richest biodiversity, including tropical forests, coral reefs, and unique wildlife species. However, these ecosystems face increasing pressure from climate change, habitat loss, and pollution. Youth-led programs, environmental education, and regional cooperation are helping cultivate the next generation of conservation leaders committed to safeguarding ASEAN’s natural heritage for future generations.
