Global applications of Filipino resourcefulness in sustainable development

🌏✨‘Diskarte’ is the practice of resourcefulness in the Philippines. Sometimes, limited resources call for a resourceful leader who adapts innovatively for sustainable practices, overcoming the challenges.

The Philippines’ journey toward the 2030 Agenda reflects both progress and persistent challenges. While notable strides have been made in healthcare, social protection, and sustainability, the country’s mixed performance in global rankings shows that achieving all 17 goals will require stronger policies, deeper investments, and more inclusive participation across all sectors of society.

In the Philippine context, the SDGs have become the blueprint for development. Adopted in January 2016 and integrated into the Philippine Development Plan (PDP) 2017–2022 and Philippine Development Plan (PDP) 2023-2028

The Subcommittee on the Sustainable Development Goals (SC-SDGs) serves as a body that supports and oversees the implementation of the SDGs in the Philippines. The function of the SC-SDGs is to harmonize the SDG indicators with the PDP chapters’ indicators and strategies.

This reflects their spirit of Diskarte. Diskarte captures Filipino ingenuity, adaptability, and innovative problem-solving in the face of scarcity or adversity. It refers to the creative and practical strategies used by individuals and communities to stretch limited resources, overcome challenges, and sustain wellbeing. In an increasingly complex world, the ability to think strategically and adapt creatively remains a valuable asset for Filipinos, driving sustainable development everywhere as strategic thought leaders equipped with excellent problem-solving skills in our resilient ASEAN region.

The Missing Link Between SDGs and Green Finance in ASEAN

ACSDSD identifies the gaps in green taxonomies #ACSDSDinsights highlighted a critical implementation gap that persists: the disconnect between high-level regulatory uncertainty and bankable infrastructure projects that currently hinder Public-Private Partnerships (PPPs) in ASEAN.
